Surrey families - does your child have an inset day this coming Monday?

I’d like to take my kids to Chessington World of Adventures as they have an inset day on Monday. However, the last time I tried this on an inset day it was the busiest I have ever seen the resort…we queued for 2 hours for Vampire ride with a 6 year old, it was crap. Didn’t even get near Dragons Fury as couldn’t handle the kids in a queue that long again. I swore never again.

However this Monday inset seems quite a random date. Maybe it will be ok? Does anyone else’s kids also have it off?

Yes my Surrey School has an inset day on Monday. I don't know of any others though. It seems a bit of a random day.

Our secondary in W Sussex has and assume a number of teens from there will be going.

BarnOwlFlying · 26/06/2025 19:19

We have one in Hampshire.

Ugh I don’t know whether to risk it!!

You’re also in the immediate post GCSE period. I imagine most teens would go to Thorpe Park rather than Chessington but there are some bigger rides at Chessington so I think it could still be busy

My trust is going on a school trip there on Monday. 90 kids from my school at least.

Mayflower282 · 27/06/2025 01:33

It will probably be quieter in the summer break when everyone is abroad on holidays.

Timed for Glastonbury, maybe?

My daughter’s school doesn’t. They have an INSET today.

madgreenlemons · 27/06/2025 12:04

We don’t have one. Odd time for an inset day!

Minniliscious · 27/06/2025 12:31

My child is on a school trip there on Monday! There’s 90 kids in his year.

Thanks for all the replies. Have just been told it’s going to be 32 degrees on Monday! Might head to our local lido instead rather than risk long queues in the heat. I need to remember to go in Feb / March next yr instead as according to the link @Mayflower282 posted above they are very quiet months

Schools decide INSET days on an individual basis. What might seem random could be due to training required which is only available on that day.

34 now!

😱 torn between feeling grateful for the heat but also feeling ill equipped to deal with it!!
