Afternoon, my children go to a English school but keep asking if they can go to a welsh school. so here's some info.

They are 7
They know basic bits
I speak welsh and currently work in a welsh school

Some are telling me to do it and now's the time to it.
Others saying its silly and will ruin their education.

I'm very skeptical and nervous about failing them in their education.

please no hate - just wondering if anyone has done this.

If they're asking and are interested (which it sounds like they are!) then I would. Children pick languages up like sponges and so now is the time to do it, it gets more difficult as they get older.

This is really odd. You are far more qualified than the majority of people on here to answer this question if you are a Welsh speaker working in a Welsh school. Surely you already know that it won't ruin their education unless the Welsh school is markedly shitter than the one they're in? I imagine you already know what provisions are made for children who are English speaking joining a Welsh school too? (Assuming they don't have any Welsh).

My kids did all their education in Welsh and I've been happy with it. It's led to opportunities now my oldest is in uni in Wales too. The English and Welsh schools in my area are much of a muchness in terms of quality of education so sending them somewhere they'd learn a 2nd language felt like an easy decision.
