Private schools that will prepare for grammar/senior prep schools west midlands

Hi everyone,

I am a new mum in the west midlands and would like to send my DD to a private prep school that will help prepare her for either grammar schools when she turns 11 or other private prep schools.

We did visit eversfield but unfortunately we were quite underwhelmed with the facilities even though according to online reviews and mumsnet, we had really high hopes!

We have also visited solihull school but noted a lot of the children go on to the senior school but if our wish is for grammar in the future, they do not prepare for this.

I am a little now lost as to which schools to look at that will feed into grammar schools in the west midlands - open to living anywhere in the west midlands as dd is only 1 years old but we know how long it takes to find a house hence looking now rather than later. She has not got much of a personality at the moment so its hard to tell what she will be like but would really like somewhere that is nurturing for our child, academic but also ensure that they get the best our of our DD when the time comes.

Any recommendations would be much appreciated - especially from personal experience.

Thank you so much for your help in advance!

shrubberyschool.com (Sutton Coldfield) sounds like it fits what you're looking for, great pastoral care and they focus a lot on grammar school entry prep in a way that feels natural for the kids as they start early. mayfieldprep.co.uk (Walsall) is also worth a look, they also prep kids for the grammar school exams and have good facilities.

State schools, well some of them, are fine. My two sisters and i all got into grammars and independents from a state c of e primary, as have my two nieces. Moseley c of e, for example has a high percentage of the class pass the 11 plus. Prep school is not necessary. A bit of tutoring re nvr etc can be done for less cost than a prep school. Better to save the money at that age and spend it later.
