KP, FH, or Glendower occasional places — experiences?

Hello,

We’re relocating from NYC to London and we’re starting to explore schooling options for our DD who will be entering UK Year 2 next September.

We’re eager to get her into an academic girls prep school but unfortunately we’d be moving her at a year that’s not a key entry point. I was wondering if anyone here has had any luck with occasional places at FH, KP, or Glendower in the past? Or is totally unrealistic? She’s currently at a top independent school in NYC (after assessments last year).

thank you!!

Well places do come up, usually because of a family relocating. But it's totally unpredictable (both whether and when). You'll need to ask the schools in question.

If nothing comes up at the right time for you, which would you rather compromise on - the school being single sex or its academic reputation? Perhaps we can suggest others as fallbacks.

Hill House would of course be one of the fallbacks - simply because it has very high rates of churn (because as well as Londoner families which stay throughout, it has a high proportion of international/expat families so there are always comings and goings)

You'd have to ask the schools but yes places come up. There used to be waiting lists for these schools but the climate has changed.

Also try Bute House, Pembridge, Francis Holland Prep and Eaton House. All very similar.
