Oh & even though we are potentially priced out & pay a lot of tax it’s never even crossed my mind to give up my job in protest.

I do something useful now so I can cover school fees. Labour are taking that past the point of affordability, it is purely a decision forced by them.
So I can only be a role model by working?
Maybe you need to reflect on how you think about women and our value in society. It says a lot a about you that you think I can only be useful/validated through working.

@NeverDropYourMooncup there is a probably a subject about your plight on this platform, why not go on there and have a little chat?

You sound so sanctimonious.

Brighton2025 · 31/08/2024 21:53

@Perfect28 do you offer workshops on self righteousness?

Perfect28 · 31/08/2024 21:54

@twistyizzy well most of us have to work for necessity. It's not about 'validation'. If you can do a job which helps others then that's win win isn't it. You seem mostly interested in helping yourself and your children and not much beyond them. Have you forgotten you live in a wider society?
You seem quite blind to your own privilege.
As PP puts it, the rest of us have very little sympathy.

Kindly go away. I've worked for 20+ years, Labour have brought in a policy that makes something unaffordable so I am adjusting my situation accordingly. Blame them, not me
Also look at your own prejudices towards women and their value in society

Pointing out some uncomfortable truths?

@EverythingAllatOnceAllTheTime ha ha ha ha I thought that. Brilliant

Oh and blame Labour and Labour supporters for my change of viewpoint

But your view of paying as little tax as possible is the standard Tory view point?

Shakenandstirredup · 31/08/2024 21:59

Fair enough @twistyizzy I just got confused that 3-4k was the tipping point & the best alternative was to give up a well paid job & not work but still be left with enough money for pensions, investments etc

Read my previous comments. Never voted Tory but will never vote Labour again.

Perfect28 · 31/08/2024 22:00

I find it sickening, frankly. I find it utterly grotesque that some people think they are above others because they pay more in tax.

Private schools foster a two tier society, one which belongs in centuries past.

If this policy helps spell the end of them, good.

I find it grotesque that you only value women if they work.

Ok - congratulations on becoming a Tory!

Shakenandstirredup · 31/08/2024 22:05

These threads are crazy! I feel for the dc whose parents now have to move them & I definitely understand why SEN dc can be better suited to PE but it’s made me a little bit apprehensive about considering it. I don’t think I would fit in! 😆😆

But you are the one trying to claim that we add no value unless we work and pay tax? By your own logic (which I don’t agree with), those paying more tax are contributing more to society?

You just made that up tho.
The irony is that you have been constantly lecturing everyone on why you are above people who pay more tax 🤷‍♀️

Perfect28 · 31/08/2024 22:07

@twistyizzy fairly sure the focus on women has been from you, and the OP's reference to the report.

For avoidance of doubt- I think work is important for both sexes.

It's unfortunate and sexist that the report focuses on women, presumably as the majority of women remain the secondary earners in the household.

If you can do something useful and helpful with your life, you should.

I find it sickening that despite me saving the taxpayer £100k by educating both my DC’s privately for primary, the Labour Party have manipulated voters to believe that I have been getting a “tax break”.

Anyone can pay more taxes than needed if they choose to - are non-Tory voters making significant voluntary contributions that I am unaware of?
