Hi,

Husband has been offered a job in NI and thinking of taking it. We have two children 6 and 3.

My question is would the children be okay in schools in NI being from England? I’ve heard a mix between of opinions. I’m just worrying about bullying, teasing and not making friends due to their accents etc.

We obviously don’t want to start any political debate on here so please kind messages only. It’s a genuine question as we just want to settle and be part of the community.

Thank you

Crawfordsburn/Helen's Bay is BT19, so unless house prices have changed a lot recently in the Bangor area, the BT19 area is not necessarily cheaper...

Yeah sorry, I was specifically talking about within Bangor itself - BT19 is generally cheaper than BT20. (Generally being the operative word) Crawfordsburn and Helen’s Bay aren’t really Bangor.

I don't agree with the vitriol about larne and Ballymena, both are pleasant enough towns, (no worse than grotty Bangor). Belfast is a city, you have to decide if you want a city or something with a slower pace, I love Belfast but I'd never, ever want to live in it.
North down and Ards are nice but you'll get significantly less for your money. I'd recommend Ballyclare (including Straid, Ballynure, Parkgate,Doagh and Ballyrobert for more village feels)Templepatrick and even parts of Antrim like Muckamore and Dunadry. Ballymena areas can also include Cullybackey, Ahoghill, Galgorm and the beautiful villages of Gracehill and Broughshane.
Randalstown is also very pleasant and very central to Belfast and the North Coast.
Area's of outstanding beauty just a few miles from Larne include Glenarm, Glenoe, Ballygally and Waterfoot.
