ehm they employ private detectives in barnet for chancers.BUT usually other parents inform on the chancers too

this is not Big not clever

hercules1 · 09/04/2008 21:38

Ooer, you won't get much support here.

Hulababy · 09/04/2008 21:39

They do check in, in most regions. Especilly in over subscribed schools.

And other parents will speak out if they find out too.

ComeOVeneer · 09/04/2008 21:39

We had to show proof of address and had a home visit for Barnet so I wouldn't risk it if I were you.

hercules1 · 09/04/2008 21:40

Most schools do home visits to meet the new pupils so you'd need to be home....

It's not for me, I know 3 people who have cheated and obtained their first choice schools even though they live further than me. I was hoping they would get caught, nothing seems to be happening, they must have got away with it. Surely you can just call the council tax office and add your name to the bill. Same with child benefit book and utility bills. It's so frustrating, why is it so easy for these people to get away with it. I wish there was a private detective watching their houses then they would get caught out. i don't think that would happen though.

barnet are over subscribed and hyper-vigilant for chancers.they do HV's and often v short notice too

lupy · 09/04/2008 21:47

By the way this is for Secondary school. I know Primary schools do visits, but not secondary. And if a visit was arranged they could just go to the house they had used and stay for the afternoon for the visit and then go back home.

are you for real asking others to collude with an illegal act to gain an unfair advantage. Sheesh

Judy1234 · 09/04/2008 22:44

Some people rent a flat for a month or two. That is presumably cheaper than 5 years of school fees at £10k a year - £50k. I think it's simpler just to pay fees. We knew soeone years ago who put the child down as living at the grandparents Bucks address and when the school found out the offer of the place was withdrawn.

mecano · 11/05/2008 14:31

I know 4 people who have used false addresses and have changed any paperwork the borough has asked for. I doubt any visits or watching has been done on them as they still have a place. By the way this is Barnet too
