I rang the school my son is due to start when we move to Norway at the end of this week.

His offer of a place has been withdrawn. There is a new headmaster, he was basically saying:

You are in no different position to any other parent with a six year old, no place til August.

Excuse me, my situation is different, we are moving here in April because my son was offered a place in school then, and NOT in August for him to start on the regular intake.

I AM SO MAD! 5 months with my son at home, and NO SCHOOL!

OMG QS that is totally shite, is there nothing you can do ? You must have correspondence from the school, is that good for nothing ?

Might be best once you are there to turn up wearing your bestest shortest skirt and your tightest blouse ?

Is there a local pre school you can send him to?

Thankfully the school rang back and said there is no place for him on the 1st of april as it is skiing week, and most the classes are doing survival skills in the mountains, on ski, but he can start on the 7th!

I think they must have got something mixed up.... So we are good to go!

You can say that again, I came off the phone and burst into tears. Then my toddler started crying, as he has never before seen my cry. So we just sat there, and cried. Then I said, ok, sweetie, I dry my tears, I dry your tears, and we cry no more. He said. "ok mummy".

Bless you both QS, I am so glad it resolved itself without us all having to pop to Norway to have a "word" with the headmaster !
