Home schooling and Relationship and Sex Education

Hi everyone,

I work for a Sexual Health charity, and we are exploring whether young people and parents/carers receiving/teaching at-home education need support with Relationship and Sex Education. We all know that RSE is incredibly important to young people's development, as Sex Education gives young people the knowledge and skills they need for a lifetime of good sexual health. They learn how to have healthy relationships, make informed decisions about sex, think critically about the world, be a good ally to those who are marginalized, and love themselves for who they are. Is there an interest in online workshops for young people who are home-education or training courses for parents/carers to feel more confident teaching these topics?

We'd generally cover this sort of topic with resources such as the videos from amaze.org to watch/discuss together and age-appropriate books for the young person to read on their own and return with any questions. I prefer pre-recorded to live resources for this kind of thing so that I could watch them ahead and importantly, so they could be paused for discussion as questions came up. Having had group sex education in school myself I'd also feel one-to-one might be more effective!
