School me on, erm, Schools in Frome and Bruton

We currently live in a city and have been thinking, on and off, for years of moving to Frome. It makes sense for a lot of reasons. But one of things that trips us up is we can't seem to get much info on school provision. Have noticed a fair few MN threads from others that go unanswered on this topic, but hoping this roll of the dice might be different!

We are also quite interested in Bruton and have seen a house that we like, so throwing that into the mix as well

So...

What are the schools like in Frome?

And can anybody advise on what the schools in Bruton are like - specifically Bruton Primary and Sexey's for non-boarders?

thanks in advance

Great prep school called Springmead about 10 mins away if you are looking for private. State schools seem a bit of a mess.

The schools in Frome operate the 3 tier system, so first school, middle school and ? Upper school. The middle school is for 9-13 yr olds. I think they all feed into frome college for 6th form. I don’t know how they fair academically. Sexeys in Bruton has an excellent reputation and does well academically…….and both Bruton and Castle Carey are lovely places to live- but obv much smaller than Frome and further from any big town or city. I don’t know about day selection for Sexeys, but flexi boarding for yr 7 needs to be applied for in year 5 of primary, with offers being made around Easter of year 5.

Agree - very well regarded little prep school. Double excellent rated by OFSTED. Heard good things about it.
