DS starts reception in September, going to see school tomorrow what kind of things to ask

DD is at independent school, she started in year 3 due to bullying at state primary (by a teacher), the headmistress there wouldn't deal with it (frightened of teacher concerned) and it was a total nightmare.

DS starts school in September. We cannot afford for him to go to private school dd is at (although he's at their nursery now), going to meet headmistress of the local primary tomorrow but not really sure what to say to her! I'm really nervous after what happened with DD (different school btw) but don't want to come across as neurotic parent who doesn't trust anyone (which I am lol)

Any advice welcome - thank you.

Just ask interested questions like "how do they manage PPA cover?" "where do they eat lunch and is there more than one sitting?", smile a lot and get a feeling for the school atmosphere.

You don't have to give any explanation re your DD's experience - say "I have a DD at XX School". FWIW I have 4 DCs who have gone through or are in the State Primary sector and none of them have had bad experiences with teachers - it sounds as if you were just very, very unlucky and it's very unlikely it will happen again.
