New Beacon, Somerhill, Rose Hill, Hilden Grange or Holmewood House

I am currently exploring school options for my son and would greatly appreciate any insights or thoughts on the following schools: New Beacon, Somerhill, Rose Hill, Hilden Grange, Holmewood House. We are considering transferring him in Year 3.

Additionally, we are contemplating applications to Sevenoaks, Brighton College, Eastbourne College, and Tonbridge School for his later years (we are aware this may change depending on our son's academic performance). If any of you have experiences or thoughts to share about these schools, including the application process and overall environment, I would be grateful for your input.

Thank you so much.

Let's face it most schools absolutely suck!!

The independents overcharge for the unqualified teachers and the states are overfilling with unhappy teachers and 30-32 kids to a class!!

Schools are glorified childcare places with a bit of learning thrown in.. many are left behind!!

Those who do thrive in school, well, this is very few and far between.. London schools trump Kent schools in my opinion and I know a fair few!!

I wouldn't bother with private school in Kent, better off sending to a prep in London if you can live close enough.. even the state schools in London top the leader boards year upon year..

Like most things in Kent, the quality and value for money just isn't there... save your money!!

Hello,
id be interested in any up to date views of Holmewood House vs Rose Hill, particularly the nursery years. My daughter is currently at a Fantastic day nursery she adores, I feel she is thriving and learning, and very happy with her little friends. However

Have you thought about The Mead? It is the most acamdeic of the schools and children do really well. It doesn't have the facilities but is town centre and uses loads of the ones in town such as theatre. Brilliant nurturing with small class sizes

Thank you @bumbletub I’ve recently spoken to some other mums and heard very positive things about The Mead. I will go and visit it. The only thing I’m unsure about is the parking situation, and it isn’t really walking distance for us (maybe occasionally but not every day)

@TWmummy6 my two are at Rose Hill and we really love the school. It’s been a while since they were in nursery (youngest is in year 3 now) but the nursery years were very nurturing and lots of fun. They have a smaller adventure playground just for them and they use the grounds and woodland / forest school area with the rest of the school. Lots of outdoor space, shows and matches as well as great STEM opportunities. The green goblins greenpower car design/build/racing club is a firm favourite with mine. If you have any specific questions, happy to help!
