Going abroad to live, who/what do I need to let know that dc is leaving school

I have given notice to dc10 private school due to moving abroad already. However I was supposed to move abroad at the end of this term and now I need to move earlier to sort out accommodation and paperwork before new school starts ie asap. This will mean that dc will be effectively 'out of school' from half term october until January when they start their new school. I will be signing them up to a homeschool plan or tutors in the meantime so they won't be completely without education but the new school starts their new term in January so that's when dc place is available from.
.

Is it better to just tell the school/LEA that they will be homeschooled now or do I not need to do anything extra now I've already told current school we will be moving abroad?

You're leaving the country, so it won't concern anyone here. You are not within their remit. Telling the school was all you needed to do.

You need to find out what the laws are regarding home education in the country to which you are moving, to see whether you need to inform anyone there or indeed whether it is legal to do at all. (It is legal in most countries, but a few ban home education outright.)

Which country are you relocating to?

I'm wondering whether a good idea would be to get in touch with the head teacher of the school at which he/she is due to start in January. It may be that the Head will be able to put you in touch with the teachers who are going to be teaching him/her in January, so that all preparation in the next few weeks is linked to the work he/she will actually be doing with them next year.

I'm not sure which kind of school it is, but I am wondering whether some of his new teachers could potentially be allowed to teach him/her privately until January, giving him/her a flying start.
