There are a few threads related to the impact on private schools fees if Labour win next year but I'm trying to find out specifically how that may impact Scotland?
I know there are two sides to it - VAT relief and loss of charitable status - but as far as I'm aware Scottish schools have already lost VAT relief (last year?) so I'm unclear what else could be around the corner - aside from inflation - but trying to focus specifically on the charitable status.
FWIW both kids in state primary, just trying to plan ahead and I see comments like 'fees will rise 20% after Labour etc' so I feel like I need more information to understand the real risks here. From reading lots of fee related threads there seems to be a MN assumption that all private schools are in London!
And yes I know fees rose sharply this year especially the schools I'm looking at. From what I know they've been frozen for a few years and that's related to a few things (teacher pay, inflation, etc).
