St Faith's preliminary assessment for entry to the Leys

Does anyone have any recent experience of the preliminary assessment for the Leys?

I have heard that pupils have to be in the top 20% of the year to secure a day place, is that correct? Does St. Faith's give an indication as to whether a child is likely to be successful in gaining a day place? And if so when does that happen? Presumably the GCSE results of day pupils are higher than those of home/full boarders if there is a higher bar of entry for them?

Also if anyone has recent experience of day boarding compared to home boarding at the Leys that would be helpful. It seems like there is a far greater proportion of day students in the school compared to in the past, is that correct?

Is your child currently at St Faith's? Both my children went there and were advised of the likelihood of them securing a place - day or otherwise - by the Head/ Deputy Head.

Yes my child is currently at St. F but further down the school. Competition for places at all secondary schools seems crazy already, and seems only likely to get worse, so if it's not likely we'd prefer to know sooner rather than later. Do you know when the Head/Deputy advised you of your children's chances?

It was the Autumn term in year 6 prior to taking the entrance test in January. They may be able to give you an indication now though? I remember the staff were realistic in what they thought would be the right fit for each child.

I think that you can ask the school before year 6, particularly if you are considering moving at the beginning of yr7 to other schools like the Perse. If your children are already at St Faith’s just email their class teacher/ tutor and they are usually pretty good at responding swiftly (although half term is probably going to get in the way!)

Evening guys, apologies for jumping on your post - we are thinking of moving our kids to St Faith’s but can’t make up our minds 🙈
what is your experience with the school?
TIA
