Hi -
Looking at Independent school options for my DS who is due to start reception in 2024. Would be keen to get parents' views on Gatehouse and Faraday, especially in terms of their academic performance and how much they would push (or better phrased, motivate) kids to prep for exams?
Many thanks.

Hi there,

Something that I never thought that I would say, but DO NOT choose Gatehouse. It is no longer the school that I signed up for, not sure how much longer my DS will be there for, but he is in year 4 so moving him now seems very disruptive.

However, if you are considering it from reception then look elsewhere. So many senior staff have left within the past 2 years, some who have been there for years, which speaks volumes. There are obviously problems somewhere that is resulting in unhappy staff. We chose the school for DS as it seemed very nurturing and everyone there really did seem so happy. And it was absolutely like this for the first few years, but now it has lost what I would consider its core values. Honestly, I don’t think that they have a clue about the learning needs of at least half of their children, DS included, let alone their emotional needs, again DS included in this.

Ok, rant over! It just makes me terribly sad to see what this once lovely school has now become. I don’t know what needs to happen to change it back to how it was, but until then, stay away
