11+ help - away the day of the exam!

We’ve just received notification of the 11+ exam date and I fucked up and we are out of the country that day.

cost to move flights is over £500 plus not even looked at the accommodation so ideally I’d like her to sit the exam the following Tuesday when we are home.

exam board state illness, religion or exceptional circumstances. Not sure this exactly fits.

help! What do I do? Anyone else been as dumb as me and has a solution?

There’s none really, there’s no way they’ll allow your dc to do it another date. You need to decide which is more important

Will you be on holiday? I don't think it would be counted as an exceptional circumstance .. it's either you go and ditch 11+ or you move your holiday

In our area the dates are published well in advance. They would not move the date for you otherwise everyone would be doing it so they could sit it at a convenient time. It's either you turn up and sit the test, or you don't. It's also on a regular school day so they wouldn't expect anyone to be on holiday.

If child is ill then there is an opportunity to sit it later. But I assume they would be quite strict about evidence required for illness.

If you want your child to sit the test, you are going to need to get them to the test centre on the required day.

They might not be that harsh OP - I had a clash of dates with DD's 11+ and a competition she was entered into. They instantly offered us the alternative date so it's worth a try, surely?

Hi ,

has anyone tried “JK educate” for 11+ tutoring ? Looking for feed backs
thanks !

We are out of the country, holiday booked and paid for. They ALWAYS do the exam on the 3rd Saturday in September apparently but this year it’s the 4th! Silly me for booking it when I did.

they allow people unable to make it due to sickness, religion or exceptional circs on the following Tuesday.

@SnakeOiler I'd ask the school, explaining your circumstances. They might be funny about it, but then again, as there will be children sitting the exam the Tuesday, it won't mean it's an alternative arrangement just for your dc.
