Any governance experts? Parent governor election without names of candidates (but some identifiable)

The school parent governor election is being held without sharing the name of any of the candidates. While I understand the importance of blind sifting as part of the recruitment process, I don’t see how this can work in an election.

How do we know that what the candidates wrote in the statements is true or even written by them? What if we want to ask questions of the candidates about things not in the statements?

There is a short statement from each and some (but not all) are clearly identifiable from this.

The school is fairly newly part of a Trust who are running the process for the first time, and have sent a note to parents with the statements and saying they ‘strongly encourage’ candidates from canvassing. This doesn’t seem right for a ballot process surely?
