Hi, when you get the letter in March saying which school, is it sent by the school for volunatary aided ones? If so, do they give you the reason for being turned down if you are not accepted?

Or is it sent by the LEA? If so ,do they give a reason for not being offered first choice?! Or do you just get offered 2nd/3rd whatever, and told to appeal?

5 weeks today to find out. which means 4 weeks 6 days tommorrow! I actually would rather be waiting to find out sex of baby than which school (if i was pregnant, which im not ;))

our school is VA, the school print & send out the acceptance letters themselves but it is the standard LEA letter IIRC. Can't help on the turned down scenario, I'm afraid. The waiting is stressful. How do you rate your chances of getting your first choice?

I got a letter from the school (as well as a subsequent letter from the LEA). I think that the letters just tell you yea/nay, with both being by reference to the entrance criteria. However the school secretary will give you details if you ask.

No idea if there is a standard approach though.

Thanks for replies.
ChippyMinton yes very stressful, had terrible nights sleep worrying, that will teach me to drink coffee before i go to bed! With regards to my chances, i sometimes feel v confident, then others not at all. There werre 320+ applications for 220 places faith . I dont qualify for vicar signing, so as my son has ocd/tics anxiety plus husband 40% disabled, am going for exceptional and compellling category. i have evidence of above, but didnt ask for a letter stating he has to go to the school, so dunno. I am a teacher there so it would be so lovely if he went, will be gutted if they say no.

No more late night coffee until you have a reply!! Will be keeping my fingers crossed for you. Let us know how you get on. My LEA send letters around the 28 Feb, so there is usually a flurry of threads around then
