Jesus wasn't baptised until the age of 30. No wonder his parents didn't manage to get him into a good school...

this one is funny:

Going to church no more makes you a Christian than standing in a garage makes you a car.

This one is not

I cannot believe that I live in a country where my children cannot go to a state-funded school in my road - because I am a Jew.

Have a good look at yourselves - and be ashamed.

"There are always secular schools available. That fact that they are not as good as the religious schools is an inherent property of their secularism."

How Christian of that commenter...

Incidentally, Mary and Joseph didn't need to get Jesus baptised - they just moved to Bethlehem to get in a decent catchment. Have you seen the waiting lists for Judea Grammar?

pmsl!

Nazareth

Heathen!

needmorecoffee · 29/02/2008 16:24

tsk. Thats why he became 'trade' then. Lowly uneducated labourer or whatever it was that someone said on another thread

UnquietDad · 29/02/2008 16:27

No they moved to Bethlehem, that's the point of the joke.... They rented the only place available...

TheFallenMadonna · 29/02/2008 16:30

Right.

I feel like my ds, who always has to have jokes explained to him. It kills the moment...

DaddyJ · 29/02/2008 16:38

UQD
I wish dd would grow up faster,
missing out on all the fun in the Education section.

Oblomov · 29/02/2008 16:40

We found out about ds's primary school today and we are really pleased. Just had to tell someone.

pooodle · 29/02/2008 16:59

well done oblomov! Most secondary applicants are writhing in agony and will be until Monday at the earliest!

I happily also know which secondary ds is going to. That has got to be one of the worst non illness related waits apart from childbirth!

UnquietDad · 01/03/2008 11:43

Don't wish the years away DaddyJ! Can't believe our babies are 7 and 5...

DaddyJ · 03/03/2008 13:00

True, patience is a virtue.
I doubt the UK education system
will have improved much in the next 10 years

  • so plenty of fun debates for me to look forward to.

I like the Omid Djalili take on this topic (a few minutes into the clip).

Of course, they didn't actually MOVE to Bethlehem - they just rented the stable for the address. Then Herod shopped them top the Authority, so they had to come up with all these dodgy witnesses to say that they really were living there..... is this getting a bit tasteless?
