Do school's pick up their emails during the holidays?

So I've applied for a transfer for my son that I'm hoping happens as soon as possible for reasons I can't disclose on here, but ideally he doesn't have to return to his school ever again!
There is a place at my requested school but I applied during the summer holidays. It is only 10 minutes from home but under a different LA. How likely is it that a decision will be made in time for the new term and would school place applications be picked up by the HT in the holiday's? LA have confirmed application is in processing but it all depends if they get a decision from the school.

Obviously this thread is coming from a parent who needs to move their child quickly for their wellbeing so please be kind as I know school staff are entitled to holidays.

Thanks for any advice.

Believe me I'm keeping everything crossed. I cant see there being a problem. Reason for move is his needs and been ignored for too long, so though he is on the pathway through external agencies, school never saw him as SEN. No exclusions, perfect attendance just sadly he really struggles with his learning and the demands of a school who never accepted his struggles

On our Inset days all staff are in the hall for compulsory training, PREVENT, safeguarding etc. If you want to get through to a living person I'd phone after lunch time when staff often go back to their work areas and the front office is staffed again.

I'm a primary teacher. Head and SLT will definitely be checking them , maybe not daily. I have an out of hours response on but have actioned and replied to everything important

Thank you. I just have to wait but am keeping everything crossed. Best case scenario would be than he is able to transition as soon to start of term as possible. At the moment he is excited for a new school but he has been off for the holidays so it makes sense to try and get it sorted as soon as possible as he will find it really hard having to start back to leave. It's just the yes or no im really waiting for as i know processing the new starter takes abit of time. As then I'll know what I need to do next

Varies from school to school. Our admin staff are in and working.

I'll chase up the LA next week just to explain that if possible can we move fast once it is possible to do so explaining my reasons why. I could be really lucky this week and have an answer.

I do think it really is dependent on the school. My school for example, I'm not sure about SLT but i imagine they would be, but we can make the decision if we want to pick up emails or not. I took my laptop home and had every intention to do some prep for September but didn't open it until last week where I returned to work to start setting up for the new term. My son's current schools SLT have also been available during the holidays.

I'm going to prepare to have to wait though. Hopefully I will know either way on one of the inset days

Hi all. I just wanted to let you know that he was offered a place on Tuesday. I am over the moon and feel extremely lucky it was done in one week, in the holidays.
