Hello all
We are thinking of sending my daughter to St Mary's senior school. She is due to start year 7 in September. I would be grateful if any mums could give their opinion of the school. Is the standard of education good. Is it worth the fees? I heard there is a new head teacher. Is she a good asset to the school?? Any advice will be much appreciated. Thank you

Bishops Stortford is just over the border in Hertfordshire. OP I assume you mean St Mary's in Colchester? If so then while I don't have any recent inside knowledge it does carry a good reputation around here. A friend looked around for her daughter recently and was highly impressed. A few years back I had some private music students who went there and they all had a thoroughly good experience. Hopefully someone with more useful up to date info will be along for you soon!

St Mary's senior in Colchester. Sorry, I should have been more specific. Thank you ElvenDreamer for your input.

DD attends the school and we have generally been very pleased with the school. The curriculum is modern, wide ( although textiles not DT, which might not suit some) and they cater for a wide range of students without feeling ‘hot housey’. DD chose it over the grammar and I think she is glad she did, saying she’s having much more fun than her friends there. The new head seems good and was excellent when we had an issue that needed dealing with. The only downside is that it is a small school, and now she’s older DD misses some of the diversity you get in a larger school ( not least, boys). It can perhaps feel a little too cosy at times. For that reason, she’s already decided that she’ll do sixth form at the sixth form college, which I think she’ll need before heading off to uni.
