What would you like to see taught in schools that currently isn't?

I'd like cooking to be taught, when I was in school it was taught till year 9 and then optional after that. Plus when it was taught we were making something like scones or bread - not something you'd make every day.

I've met so many grown adults who can't cook and waste a fortune on crap and takeaways, I think teaching people basic cooking skills throughout school would help to prepare them for when they move out :)

They are taught that.... It's the parents allowing Children unfiltered and unsupervised access that is the issue.

It's like teaching all children to ride a bike safely, them knowing, but their parents let them ride their bike on the M5.

I was shocked to find out that in our secondary science curriculum students learn in great detail about reproduction / childbirth / periods / STDs BUT nothing about the menopause!!!!
Surely more women go through the menopause than have children! Not to mention all the students living with someone going through it!

My school did a session to year 12 about menopause this year. I added a piece about endometriosis as I thought that was more immediately useful.

Learning about menopause and period conditions (i.e. what's not normal and needs seeing a doctor about) would be useful. Certainly don't remember learning anything about that in school.

My DD's class are going on a mushroom picking trip in the forest tomorrow so I guess they're getting a hands on lesson in foraging - I like that!
