There's one that goes "Oh ho ho and a bottle of gin, a pirate's life is the life for me". We used to sing it a school, sorry can't remember what it's called.

A favourite chez Seeker!

When I was one, I sucked my thumb, the day I went to sea.

I climbed aboard the Pirate ship, and the captain said to me,

"We?re going this way, that way, forward, backward, over the Irish Sea,

A bottle of rum to fill my tum, and that?s the life for me."

When I was two, I tied my shoe?

When I was three, I climbed a tree?

When I was four, I shut the door?

When I was five, I took a dive?

When I was six, I picked up sticks?

When I was seven, I went to Heaven?

When I was eight, I shut the gate?

When I was nine, I stood in line?

When I was ten, I did it again?

mumblechum · 29/11/2007 11:19

Oh Seeker I've been going insane trying to remember that one!

OHH there is a you tube video of you are a pirate www.youtube.com/watch?v=ZLsJyfN0ICU - it is so funny. WE used in outr Year 1 literacy lesson - they loved it!

cazzybabs · 29/11/2007 21:53

Oh you are a pirate from lazytown - it is dead catchy by the way

islandofsodor · 30/11/2007 00:21

Anything from The Pirates of Penzance

LadyOfWaffle · 30/11/2007 00:28

Ditto Seekers Or I think in Peter Pan (the proper 1950s one) they sung a pirate song.

Ellbell · 30/11/2007 01:06

That's timely islandofsodor. DD1 has just (well, earlier tonight, obviously - not at 1 a.m.) been to school disco dressed as a pirate with all of us going; 'Foooooor I am a pirate king. I am a pirate king. And it is, it is, a glorious thing to be a pirate king - it is. Hoorah for the pirate king, hoorah for the pirate king!' (And repeat tunelessly ad infinitum.)

gigglewitch · 30/11/2007 01:27

i think the original tune wasn't much good anyway - isn't it (imaginatively titled) I am a pirate king from G&S Pirates of Penzance? they only wrote two tunes and recycled them in all their operettas... your DD has a good chance of making her own one up

not a G&S fan.
