we are thinking of moving there because of the good secondaries, what primaries do we want plese, those in the know?

That we can get into, that is! -we will be moving to be sure to be near a good one at least. I know there are no gurantees-maybe we don't want to try for a totally oversubscribed one. ???????

dds are in y3 and R

They are all good. Probably the best are St Nicholas, Roundwood, Wood End, Manland, Crabtree. I would recommend you phone and go and have a look round - that will tell you much more than league table results and ofsed reports which I presume you have already looked at. Are you buying and selling a house?

They are all good.

Don't rule out The Grove. It just got an 'outstanding' ofsted.

People seem to think that The Lea and Sauncey Wood are less desirable schools - whether this is based on fact, who knows.

oh move to Redbourn instead! the school is absolutly fab, good ofsted and just awarded the challenge award for excellence in provison for able, gifted and talented pupils!
fab school!

p.s i know a fab childminder in redbourn too!!

REdbourn is good for primary but you may struggle to get a good secondary place in any of the villages round harpenden. A lot of children from the villages get offered places in Hemel or Hatfied much to their parents dismay. Last year they were short 80 secondary places for kids that lived in harpenden Wood end is very good. Most of the Harpenden schools are excellent but you will get what you are given depending on where you live as they are all way oversubscribed.

elasta mum has agood point, secondary schools are generally offered for hemel, although that said theres only one person ever accepted that place in the 5 years ive lived here.
redbourn are being offered more schools in harpenden and st albans now,i may be wrong but from what i know everyone who went up this sept get one of their chosen places in either st albans or h'den.
