Hi! First post here so please bear with me. Our youngest is due to leave the prep she is currently at next Sept and we are looking at senior schools. Currently looking at the three above and wanted some opinions. Main priority for us would be pastoral and boarding - youngest wants a vibrant boarding house with plenty of full boarders - a good mix of international and enough British boarders too. Good food is a must!! Any advice?

@DobbyTheHouseElk

I might have misread, but it looked like Taunton school was offering some sort of real life open day.

Usually, you have a taster day as part of admissions. I wonder if this will go ahead or not.

They had a virtual open day and I think you can book an individual tour - but it’s the boarding we need to see “working”! The only way to really get a feel for that is a taster night. Hmm

I relocated to Devon 3 years ago and looked at Blundells - my DD and DS really loved it as did I but we chose to live in Exeter instead with DS now at Exeter School and DD at The Maynard (which is utterly awesome for girls btw). I still think Blundells might have been better for my DS and I do slightly regret him being at Exeter but it’s fine. Neither of these board properly so if that is an issue for you I’d say seriously consider Blundells as it seemed very good - the Girls House Matron was absolutely lovely.

With respect to the ex pupil, so much can change in 8 years so I’m not sure a review from then can be trusted. Is it the same Head?
That being said, I have heard lovely things about Blundells.
