Do you have a CRB to help out at your DCs school, and did you have to pay for it?

I was at a PTA meeting last night and it was mentioned that the PTA board members need a CRB check. And that it costs the school £50 for each one. But, I thought if you needed it in order to volunteer (asopposed to paid work) it was free.

I have separate CRBs for primary school and pre-school. As required, apparently. I didn't pay for either form and neither did the school/pre-school.

My new pre-school committee members have been asked to have medicals at a £100 each if they are to cover for staff members. How many parents cark it whilst rolling out playdoh anyway?

In my LEA (Cheshire) schools do not pay for the CRB, if it's for a volunteer (there is a separate form to fill out).
I think it's the LEA who set out the policy on who must have a CRB check and whether an existing CRB is sufficient.
