School fees for 2020/21

Our school hasn’t yet communicated next year’s fees to us. Usually we’d hear in May or June what they will be charging, but this year is obviously a bit different.

Have others been informed yet what the fees will be? And if so, have your fees been frozen or have they gone up?

Our fees have been frozen for 2020/21. We’re at a prep school in Kent.

CodexDevinchi · 24/07/2020 09:28

We was told late last year that they were going up but have now been frozen. Prep school north west

camelsandcaramel · 24/07/2020 09:31

We've had a 10% discount if paid before the end of July. We're overseas and there's still a lot of doubt about us returning in Sept.

ineedaholidaynow · 24/07/2020 09:34

Frozen

MakeLemonade · 24/07/2020 09:36

Frozen here too. Pre-prep just outside of London.

RedAndGreenPlaid · 24/07/2020 09:38

Our school has frozen them.

Zodlebud · 24/07/2020 09:40

Frozen but the accompanying letter implies they will go up next year.

vinoandbrie · 24/07/2020 12:16

Thanks, that’s interesting to see no rises reported. Fingers crossed it will be the same for us. I doubt the extra-curricular offering will be as per previous years, and for this and other reasons I don’t think they’d be justified in upping the fees.

Re school lunches, are these being provided? School lunches at ours are a compulsory add on, but I’m unsure whether they’ll be able to provide this next term, as the set up is such that all girls 4-18 eat at staggered times in the same large dining room already. I’m unsure how they’d manage if they had to add in extra layers of sanitising / distancing etc.

Schools should be setting out the fees before the deadline for parents giving full notice to quit - are you sure you haven't missed anything?

vinoandbrie · 24/07/2020 12:52

Yes, I’ve checked in with other parents so can be sure.

We haven't had any details yet of how school will be running under the new guidance. School lunches are included in the fees as are school buses (which will be running). No-one brings in packed lunches and they do staggered lunches already, so it will be interesting to see what they do. It is a small school, when people were talking about bubble sizes of 240 that would cover the whole school!

Frozen for Autumn Term ... implies a rise 2021 thou

Prep South East

Loveinatimeofcovid · 24/07/2020 13:06

Ours went up.

Lovingmummy9 · 24/07/2020 13:23

Hi all, we are joining a London prep school from September so we have already started paying fees. We still haven’t got a letter about guidelines for September. There are around 17 children in dd1’s year 3 class and 16 in dd’s year 2. So far the other parents have told me they sat them 2m apart but I’m not sure if this will continue even at a metre in September. What are your schools doing ?

Lovingmummy9 · 24/07/2020 13:25

The other parents sent them in as a lot of them are working at the hospital and are key workers. Though it was easy to distance them as there were only 6 in each class maximum. Disappointed we haven’t been updated yet.

Delta1 · 24/07/2020 13:29

Ours has said all normal from Sept. Fees also frozen for now.

heynori · 24/07/2020 13:51

Ours have gone up (central London).

TheSunIsStillShining · 24/07/2020 14:06

10% down for 20/21. SW london

anothershrubbery · 24/07/2020 14:14

Frozen here. Lunches included in fees, school have confirmed that lunches will still be provided as normally as possible but with staggered serving and restricted seating.

Newdaynewname1 · 25/07/2020 05:51

Southeast, just outside London. Fees are frozen, lunches included and will be provided. its a smallish prep (about 300 kids).
The whole school was open from 8th of june with lunches provided, so no doubt they are able to provide that.

Delta1 · 25/07/2020 07:44

Sorry yes lunches included at our prep too. Fees certainly frozen for Autumn term. Don't know about Jan 21 onwards. So far they say life will be almost completely normal. I'm not sure they're allowed to do group singing etc though which is a shame. Look forward to that all resuming.

SleepingWithTheFishes · 25/07/2020 07:50

Ours has been frozen and they are still providing lunches but in the classroom rather than the dining hall. Tiny school though so it's easier to manage

sandybayley · 25/07/2020 13:14

Frozen for the year. London day school.

sarahjone · 26/07/2020 04:09

Frozen here also

Hoppinggreen · 27/07/2020 21:24

Frozen age 3-16 in Yorkshire
Another local prep has put theirs up 7%, which has caused much outrage amongst the parents
