Looking for private school in East Sussex or Kent/Sussex border that's good for SEN but not necessarily specialist. Looking to send 8 year old boy with high functioning ASD and concentration issues.

Shout out what you know and what you recommend. Where to go, where to avoid etc. Name them, shame them or big them up - TELL ME WHAT YOU KNOW

please

Looking also at what you've written about your son's ASD in your other thread, I would suggest avoiding Claremont. The SEN department is superb and very caring and nurturing, but the prep school as a whole doesn't have great pastoral care and can be very strict and inflexible. There is however a new headteacher (joined in September 2019 I think), so things may have improved.

Have you considered St Ronan's? I know nothing about their SEN department but I have a friend with DC there and she's extremely happy with the school.

Thats interesting Catkin, thanks for the advice. My instincts were pointing more towards Bedes but DH is inclined to go to Claremont but I suspect thats because he's thinking of the cost, which is an important consideration because we never planned to look outside of the state system when we had kids so its a bit scary.

I haven't looked at St Ronan's but I'll have a google now. Thanks for the tip off xx
