DD is currently at a state school, is football mad, and lucky to be good at all sports, as well as fairly bright and confident. We are Surrey based (Epsom/Ewell). Recommendations greatly appreciated. Not averse to a girls only school.

have a look at the notre dame school which is based in Cobham. there is info about the sports on their website but they have great facilities x

Epsom College would be an obvious choice, as well as St Johns Leatherhead. You need to plan ahead though re admissions- both of these have 11+ and 13+ entry. How old is she?

Unbelievable18 · 19/04/2019 00:00

@VanCleefArpels she's soon to be 10 and Y5 at the moment. Thanks for the suggestions.

If you are after 11+ entry get your skates on!

Notre Dame is hardly academic, although they do have fabulous sports facilities (no football though). Pastoral care is also lacking somewhat imo. I'd second the poster above about looking at Epsom College & St John's, also perhaps City of London Freemans in Ashtead?

.@VanCleefArpels yep 11 plus. Have I left it too late?

November registration required for St Johns, expect Epsom will be the same. The issue will be preparation for testing which I would argue is more difficult from state school where curriculum and/or order of learning may mean not all relevant topics have been covered in time

Caterham? Fairly strong academically with great sports facilities.

Any independent school worth it’s salt will know they have students coming from state schools and will take that into account.

You haven’t left it too late but start having a look around, there will be open days/evenings coming up this term. Try to get a feel of the school and how it will suit your child, no-one else can really help you with that part.

If you are looking at all girls you could try the Guildford schools if very bright eg Guildford high. Not sure about St Catherine’s on public transport.
Another option would be to head towards London and look at Surbiton High. Very good reputation for sport. Or Wimbledon high. Or Sutton high
