what happens to student loan if I die?

Hi Im thinking about returning to education as I am currently not working and I have a daughter with special needs which limits my current work choices. If I took out a student loan to finance a course would it be written off if something happened to me?
It may seem a bit morbid but quite frankly I cant see the opportunity to repay a loan whilst caring for my daughter through her education but would not want it to to affect her (fairly meagre) inheritance if I died. Meanwhile I am feeling starved of intellectual stimulation and would love the chance to retrain and build something for my future

Yes it is written off. Go for it! You are only here once. You must do this!

thanks SummerHouse - whenever I look at student loan sites this area is never mentioned. I feel more confident now to proceed with an application!

It also gets cancelled if you are declared permanently unfit for work. See www.slc.co.uk/students-and-customers/loan-repayment/loan-cancellation-and-refund-information/cancellation-disability-or-death.aspx
