Hi Everyone,
I have a very “spirited” 3 year old son that we are wanting to send to private school.
We are looking at Elmhurst, Cumnor house, Caterham and Royal Russell.
We have yet to look around Caterham and Royal Russell but hope to do so in the next couple of weeks. We are lucky enough to have our sons name down on the reception list for Caterham so we don’t need to worry about there being a waiting list.
Obviously we are keen to make the right choice for our boy but we are struggling to know which one would suit him best.
Myself and my son are very different characters which is why I’m struggling to really feel which would be best for him.
We loved the family feel of Elmhurst and were wowed by what Cumnor house had to offer.
When visiting Cumnor house a teaching assistant said we push our boys hard as parents pay a lot of money and expect results. This made me a little unsure as I’m a shy retiring type and I just didn’t like that. But my son is a very different person to me, he’s confident and full on so that may not be a problem. What I don’t want is for my son to be overwhelmed and burnout or crumble. At the same time he could just react in a stubborn way and rebel to this kind of teaching. But who knows at this age what type of child they will turn out to be?!
With Elmhurst and their nurturing approach (which I personally love) would they push my strong minded, strong willed child if that was what he needed.
I haven’t really heard anything about Caterham or RR so would really appreciate any information and advice.
I’m very keen to hear from people with firsthand experiences of any of these schools.
As a parent we just want to get it right don’t we.
Thank you all for taking the time to read my post.
Xx
