Hulababy · 17/06/2007 18:24

nO, WE CAN'T. sOUNDS A GOOD IDEA FROM A PARENT'S POINT OF YOU THOUGH. nOT SURE ABOUT FROM THE TEACHER'S pov THOUGH.

Ooops - sorry for caps!

unknownrebelbang · 17/06/2007 18:24

Yep, we can if we want to.

cornsilk · 17/06/2007 18:24

I read about this, it's a great idea.

twinsetandpearls · 17/06/2007 18:25

I am emailable and am trying hard to publicise this am also setting up a blog so that I can keep parents up to date and they can leave messages for me.

twinsetandpearls · 17/06/2007 18:26

our can text school as well but not individuals.

twinsetandpearls · 17/06/2007 18:26

Cod are you hellping me with my summer suit dilemma?

newlifenewname · 17/06/2007 18:26

I do. We email our blog to her and when Maisie the Mouse came to stay and I didn't have my printer set up we emailed the pictures in time for Monday's discussion about Maisie Mouse's antics at our house. Haven't tended to mail about important stuff as yet though but would be happy doing so.

Last school dc attended in UK was diabolical in its ability to embrace new technology.

paulaplumpbottom · 17/06/2007 18:27

I think it is good for teachers to sometimes a quick e-mail is better than a long chat

twinsetandpearls · 17/06/2007 18:27

yes and it gives me time to think.

WigWamBam · 17/06/2007 18:28

We can email the school secretary or the head teacher, but not individual teachers.

It would be much easier if we could all be contactable by email though.

I am emailable (although secondary) and parents do, particularly those in my form. Although one mum keeps sending me chain emails.
Much easier to get hold of me via email then on the phone.

newlifenewname · 17/06/2007 18:29

Yes, I know. Along with Barney the bullshitting bear. Oh and Rita the Right wing Raggydoll.

CuttingCod · 17/06/2007 18:30

We email pupils and pupils can email coursework to us but we don't have a system for emailing parents or parents emailing us. Wish we did, it's a fab idea. But most of them don't have computers ( v deprived area); the pupils use the school ones at lunchtime and afterschool clubs.

AttilaTheMum · 17/06/2007 18:52

I work at a junior school & parents can email the office & it gets forwarded to the teachers - and the head is really trying hard to get them to read their emails......
Next year when our 'learning platform' is extended so that every child has their own log-in, they will be able to use the website to communicate. We will also have a parents' forum so they can discuss stuff - I just hope it doesn't get as heated as MN, as I'll probably be the one moderating it.....

fairyjay · 17/06/2007 18:52

We can e-mail them - the individual addresses are given on the school website. Getting a response is another thing altogether though!

Blandmum · 17/06/2007 19:06

My kids can email me, and so can their parents. I also have a message board and a Wikispace for my sixth form students.

I would much rather get an email from a parent if there was a problem, so that we could sort it out. I just hope that they are realistic and don't expect 24/7 support.

I do run on line revision the night before the exams btw!

MrsWho · 17/06/2007 20:56

I have no email for school or teachers, would be easier to though as I can never get them by phone and don't get in very often.

Boredveryverybored · 17/06/2007 21:00

I can email dd's school but not her individual teacher. Its just the main email that is I presume picked up by the receptionists.
I use it to them them when dd is off, much easier than trying to phone in sometimes.

LIZS · 17/06/2007 21:01

I think we can but they don't publish the individual addresses. We have a diary that tos and fros daily anyway .

frascati · 17/06/2007 21:02

Yep we can and the head, deputy head. We also have on the school site topics that the class are covering too.
Can email to say your child is off sick too.
