Free school meals in Lincolnshire secondary schools

Hi

Ds started secondary school in Lincolnshire and is entitled to free school meals. But I’m not sure how it works?

I called the school this morning and the receptionist couldn’t tell me either, and promptly just dismissed my call. The school has a very low rate of FSM and this made me feel embarrassed to be asking about it.

Is it a set amount each day?
How much is the daily allowance?
Does it just cover lunch at the canteen, or does it include food and drink at breaks?

We do have an online account where we can top up and see what was purchased, but there is no information on allowances. So, maybe we should just try and work it out over the coming weeks.

Im not sure about the free school meals but we are in Lincs and they have a budget set by the school on how much they can spend a day I think its around £3.50.

And please don't be embarrassed, the receptionist sounds like a cow bag, the least she could have done was pass you on to someone who did know!
