Primary; TAs, parent helpers, parents how are you told to support reading?

Could I please ask anyone involved in listening to children read just what training and guidance you are given as to:

  1. what you are listening for?
  2. what guidance/advice/feedback you offer to pupil?
  3. what sort of comments you write in their reading record?

For example, I've often seen the comment "read with expression". Is that something you look out for? Ask the pupil to do? And if so why?
Or is there anything else you are told/trained to do?

Thanks
