How can I find out what wage rate a non teaching salary scale equates to?

I'm weighing up applying for an admin job in a school, all they can tell me is that it's grade 5 and 37.5 hours per week term time plus one week in closure. What I need to know is how much that actually pays so I can factor in childcare and see if it's more viable than my current job or others I'm looking at. Google is not really helping me, can anyone help please? Thanks Smile

I think it’s about £17,000. If 52*17,000 is £327 a week. Times by 40 (term time plus one and I reckon you’d get about £13000 so your take home pay would be £1000 ish?

Google band 5 for your council as a starting point.

They should know!! The job is in their agreed budget. They must know. See if you can get hold of the bursar or financial administrator.

Thanks both. I've just rung the county council who were very helpful, and apparently it comes out to about 16k gross pay after a very complicated calculation involving holiday pay weeks. Thank you Smile

I’m glad you found out. Yes paid holiday entitlement complicates it! It’s wrong the school didn’t know though. They are paying for the job out of their budget.
