I am looking for a new prep school for my son who is in year 7. He has a conditional offer for a super selective boys boarding school in year nine. The school needs to have experience preparing boys for this level of school. A great level of pastoral care is a absolute must.

I would like to hear from parents who have very recent experience. Has anyone changed school at this late stage ? I am happy to receive PM's if mums would prefer.

Haha not Perrott Hill! The poster suggesting that doesn't understand the difference between West Country pace and super selective expectations.

Aldro, Godalming Surrey?

Horris Hill prep for Winchester or Windlesham House in Sussex.

Thank you both elephantintheroom2 and pombal. Do you have recent first hand experience of boarding at the schools which you mentioned?

Have a look at windlesham house school, it’s co-ed boarding upto end of year 8. Fantastic school

I can highly recommend Aldro - lovely school, smaller than some and a real family atmosphere. Very inclusive, too, and they prepare the boys for all the top public schools, including scholarships.

Please PM me if you want further information.

Thank you Tanith, I have sent you a PM.

I have two children at Cottesmore and have found the pastoral care to be exceptional. The HM, and everyone there, takes it very seriously. It's rather like one big, caring family. The academic results are excellent too. Both my children, who're very different, have flourished under the tutelage there.
