Does anyone know of some really good (and factually correct) books for a yr9 boy on ww1 and 2?

I second Goodnight Mr Tom. It's a tear-jerker but a wonderful story. There's not much about the politics of the war or the actual fighting but is more about the blitz and the life of evacuees.

My son is in Yr 8 and rearing Auslander by Paul Dowswell. My DD also liked the Henderson Boys series by Robert Muchamore

Michael Morpurgo books are surely aimed at primary school age rather than 14 year olds.

Try The Boy at the Top of the Mountain as another John Boyne. Sandi Toksvig's Hitler's Canary and a short novel called Friedrich by Hans Peter Richter are good. Or throw him in at the deep end with Pat Barker's Regeneration trilogy.
