Exemplar Education leaflet

Hello, I've just joined mumsnet because I really want to warn people about this company. My daughter's school gave out leaflets for exemplar education. They then sent a text and another leaflet telling us to return forms. Exemplar Education is a trading name of EBS Systems Ltd. Being an accountant I checked the public record for this company. This company's directors have not filed accounts with the Registrar of Companies. They are overdue as of 13/07/17. It is a legal requirement for directors to file accounts on time. I asked the headteacher why the school is promoting a company that is withholding its financial position from the public record. Anything could be going on with this company. I believe they ask customers to sign credit agreements. This company could be in trouble but how do we know without accounts? The head teacher agreed to stop the promotion on ethical grounds but i since found out that they are carrying on. I'm a joke to them. They won't reply to my questions in writing. I've written to the chair of governors. Does anyone know of anything else I can do? I thought teachers and schools were meant to be socially responsible and this is so sad.
Thanks for any replies , Emma

Any information you can give will be very helpful. This company are not just miss selling a product, they are actually lying about what we are signing up to. I was told I could cancel at any time as they promoted through schools they didn't want a bad reputation. I was also told the finance company was part of their company so there would be no issues.

Girl2girl · 10/05/2018 12:39

Maybe if we could get enough people to sign a petition about how this company works it would hold more clout ?

Hannah0058 · 18/05/2018 22:46

As a former employee I can confirm that ExemplarEducation finance through both a separate Company and their own finance Company for any that don’t go through credit scoring. The sales people are referred to as Course Advisors but are not qualified in education. The script used has to be followed verbatim, it is a very cleverly scripted sales process to cause concern over a child’s education and to use the prospect of failure by the Child to push the parent into the sale. The Company uses the relationship with the School to enhance their status as very few people have heard of them. As with all sales jobs the staff are expected to convert a set number of appointments and are judged on the amount they sell. The basic paid is low and although the Company policy is “so what’s best for the child” it doesn’t sit well with the sales meetings and pay structure.

Hi, could you please provide me their address for complaint. I contacted them previously regarding cancellation, they have replied that If I am experiencing financial difficulties I need to contact financial company and it is nothing to do with them, and also complained about their programme over the phone.
But didn't have any result.
I will write a complaint and planning to report them to trading standarts. I have signed up 2 years ago, and this programme seems very out of date and my son doesn't enjoy doing it. As I can see now, I am not alone, and I would be very grateful if you could provide any information about your complaint progress.

Choclatina74 - you have posted the exact same post on the Primary School section thread as well. You obviously work for Exemplar Education.

I went onto their website just now and had a browse through their 'blog posts', which are the biggest load of illiterate drivel I have ever read.

Chocolatina74 · 03/06/2018 09:22

I did post the same thing as it was relevant for both posts. :/ its a little immature that people are having a go and saying things that are so mean. Haha it’s funny that you think just cos someone says nice things on here you presume I work for them... the fact I find the system good doesn’t have anything to do with it? You obviously haven’t tried the course for your kids... I started my day really nicely and you are trying to goad me into an argument. Well babes I’m not falling for it. Wooop wooop sunny days and happy thoughts!

RhythmStix · 03/06/2018 10:02

"well babes I'm not falling for it. Wooop woop"

And you call me 'immature'?

You would benefit from learning the distinction between people 'saying things that are so mean', and posters describing events which are personal experiences, as most of the above posts are. Or if you can't, perhaps those nice folk at 'exemplar education' could help you. Smile

Chocolatina74 · 03/06/2018 12:09

You can scoff and laugh at me... my kids love me, and I am happy... as I am with the program (that was my original point) I will just wish you a happy Sunday and hope your day improves... Thumbs up to Education and happy kids.

Feenie · 03/06/2018 17:18

'Babes'????? Hmm

How nice of you to have joined MN specifically to share your Exemplar experience with us.

Chocolatina74 · 03/06/2018 18:59

And what an experience it was. Whats wring with you people? Yes babes... I call everyone babes... anyway I won’t be offending you anymore with my positivity...

spanieleyes · 03/06/2018 20:11

I think it is your naivety that is the problem!

KkDdSs68 · 04/06/2018 22:14

Yes I agree with you.It is glorified scam.we must get some more people .

KkDdSs68 · 04/06/2018 22:28

Hi everyone I have been scammed by this company.A guy one day knocked my door and asked me if I have done a survey and asked for some online tuitions.I said yes so he told me about how they are spending leaflets about this progrrame through schools. He did a assessment for my son and gave me the result. As my son is preparing for a GCSE exams .I said yes to this guy because he was too pushy and persuaded me to buy the subscription. He did a credit check and never informed me about the fiance bit.He offered 3 years study plan agreement but I refused as my son doesn't want to do maths or English for A levels.I asked the sales person his name is mathew to sign up for a 12 months only as I wasn't sure about this online study. He said ok let's sign up for 12 months this sounds good. After 2 months my son didn't like to go on this website and get reminder sets from company your son is not logging in but my son was not showing any interst.I even lost the charger for the laptop they gave me they charged me 30 pound for a replacement charger .I haven't received the charger they took the money but never sent any charger and now blaming on to the postoffice. They are such a scammer.i am struggling financially and I am on I come support .I am a single parent.I am now stuck with them the lady I spoke over the phone today she said she will find out and get back to me.What a non sense. They are big scammers please be careful with them.At the time of signing Mathew told me I can cancel at anytime now they are behaving different.

Girl2girl · 10/06/2018 20:30

I am very concerned about how this company is still trading. I have read so many reviews where this company has been reported to the Ombudsman. This company is clearly not interested in providing an educational programme it is all about the finance deal. I have emailed and written to them several times about my disappointment in the programme and the fact it doesn't work. At no point have they tried to rectify the problem, all I keep getting back is the same generic letter stating I signed a financial agreement, no one made me therefore I have to pay it. I signed to get an educational service that does not appear to exist.
I put up this complaint to trustpilot, after it received over 400 looks they had it removed !!!!
Why if they have nothing to hide ?
Can anyone tell me what has happened when they have cancelled, and where did you send your laptop back to please ?

intik · 19/07/2018 13:30

Hi, I have prepared a complaint for this company. Could you please let me know if anyone had a successful cancellation of agreement? and to which address is better to send the complaint.
Thank you.

2botsmum · 16/08/2018 22:37

Thanks I had booked for someone to come but luckily saw all the negative feedback and cancelled the appointment xx

Leopatra · 18/08/2018 06:45

This known as EBS. Please don't put yourself in trouble. They was sent by school head and comes into my house to assess my child ..the assesor were very sweet and end up signing it in 2010 and end up paying over £2000 for 3 years contract that I have signed. Once you in difficult to come out. Don't let them trick you they just changed name and comeback again!! NOAngry!!

regwalker · 12/09/2018 15:55

Left a review on Trust Pilot regards Exemplar and now they are doing all they can to block it. That highlights and tells you all you need to know about the kind of company that they are.

Exemplar Education's reason for reporting

Exemplar Education has requested this review be removed as it appears to contravene Trust Pilot guidelines.

Scam Artists

Go to Mums Net and Money Saving Supermarket for genuine Reviews.

Scam Artists!! - all they are interested in is tying you into a credit agreement for 4 years. I even question the integrity of the positive reviews on this site. After all anyone can set up a fake email account.

In my last review I advised people to hire a private tutor £25 per hour and much better VFM. Bizarrely the next reviews were at length to state how flexible the exemplar package is (Bullshine). The child still has to dedicate the same hour(s) of time to it and when you talk to them they will tell you how important it is to have a routine, Come on it's one or the other routine or flexibility??

I like many others was duped into buying into this because it came via my grandsons school so obviously I believed they endorsed it. After doing some research I have found this not to be the case but the school get an admin fee for sending out the leaflets. So the school do not endorse this product and I will be challenging them regards this as people are being duped.

Received a recent communicate from exemplar laying out that I signed the contract and I am tied into a credit agreement blah blah blah. They are obviously panicking because they probably think I am going to cancel the Direct debit. I was stupid enough to get fooled by these con artists but I am aware of my responsibilities in regards signing contracts so I don't need telling by Exemplar. Unlike them I have morals and scruples and I honour my debts and agreements. Looking at some of the reviews from other sites I believe that they have already gone bust once and set up as a new company or at least some of them have, so please don't lecture me on honouring debts. I am not a rich person but comfortably off. I have made a mistake jumping into bed with these rogues and I will pay for that but I will do everything within my power to stop anyone else being hoodwinked.

Part of the letter states quote - "With regard to whether or not a school has endorsed and/or recommended what we have to offer, all would have been made clear in such respects in writing at the time"
Strange statement to put in a paragraph in the middle of a letter because until writing this current review I know I have never previously mentioned this ? So I take it by exemplar pre empting a situation that didn't previously exist they are admitting that it is not endorsed by schools and not conducive with the schools curriculum therefore not fit for purpose ?.

As previously stated I will do everything within my power to stop anyone else falling foul of these rogue jackanapes. I look forward to day that they are run out of business. I will be writing to my school. Putting a review on every possible website, Speaking with friends and other parents, seeing my M.P. and writing to the Board of Education (in regards to the unscrupulous actions of this company and their relationship to schools). In addition I will be contacting any Consumer Services that will listen or help and writing to BBC Watchdog to try and expose these Charlatans'.

In the meantime if you are thinking of investing in this rubbish then I suggest that you visit review sites such as Net mums and Money supermarket plus others for an honest and genuine review of this product. If I haven't put you off then I am sure they will.

intik · 04/10/2018 14:54

I wrote a complaint to exemplar and asked to cancel financial agreement. I have received very short reply to my complaint and they have advised to contact Financial Ombudsman. Could you tell me if anyone has resolved this problem through obmunsman with positive outcome? Or it will be just waste of time... I just feel like there is no way out of it :( 2 more years to pay for nothing :(

TimeForDinnerDinnerDinner · 04/10/2018 21:43

I have to say I'm genuinely shocked at the number of negative Exemplar experiences. For my kids it has been well worth the money so far. Their efforts were quickly rewarded with both of them getting moved up a set in their weaker subject (one Maths, one English) within two terms.
Yes, we did have some techy issues from time to time, but I've always found the support lines very helpful.
Overall, I have to say the Exemplar described by many on here is not one I recognise at all Confused

Daisy389 · 11/10/2018 13:34

Hi all.
I’m on the same boat at the minute with this company! Looking to know has anyone had a successful cancellation from this??

Daisy389 · 11/10/2018 16:35

Hi intik.
I went to the ombudsman currently they are still dealing with my case. I had previously rung trading standards first which told me I could take them to small claims but it would be more he said she said. I explained my situation to him but I don’t think he was too bothered 😕 so I then rung the ombudsman this was about April time & still on going.

Mritsaneev2 · 05/11/2018 21:17

Hi there
I have the same problem here with Exampular. I have rang them too but they said customer care will get back to me but they got back to me saying they can’t do anything except me ring the honeycomb company as they have paid loan to Exampular. So I rang honeycomb and they said if Exampular pay as rest of the money they we can cancel it. So I rang Exampular and they said they can’t pay back so I said to them I won’t be able to pay the payment. As I m going round and round so ask them for a contact details to put a complain however they said they are the people to complain about anything and I said to them you guys not helpful at all. So I took the address of head office to put a complaint. I have come to the conclusion that stop the payment and send a letter to head office. So if anyone has got any idea how to stop this please let me know.
Thanks

Hello All
I am also fed up with this company. Friends, Strictly warning to you all if you subscribe this company, you will be in hell. Dont encourage this. i am not how UK govt. is not taking any actions on this kind of companies. Service is not good, having so many mistakes in the programe. Until join, they will call continuously. Later point, They need only money and dont need any feedback. If we call them, no one come into the line, they will call back. PLEASE DO NOT BELIEVE Exemplar education service. Thanks gvs
