Read with interest the threads a few months ago on Steiner Education. I am considering sending my DS to a Steiner School (currently looking at Stourbridge and a Kindergarten in Leamington Spa which I believe is Steiner inspired). The comments on the previous thread generally concluded that the schools differ greatly. I wonder if anyone would tell me which schools their experiences are of ? Lots of threads on MN name specific schools so I hope nobody minds me asking, it would be a great help.

Hi, my boys are at the Islington Steiner School and I know someone who's very happy with the Stourbridge one. They do vary greatly, particularly when it comes to the classes,(ages 6+) but the kindergartens are generally brilliant, especially for boys as they are allowed to be active and messy and creative.

I have experience of the Greenwich one (which I loved) and the SOuth Devon one (not so keen). I went to the greenwich parents and toddlers, lots of people there had children further up the school. It was a very welcoming, supportive place at a difficult time for us.

If Steneir had been feasble logisitcally I would have considered it.

sorry- that's not much use for your specific schools- but you'll be able to work out which schools my comments relate to on the other threads now

Go with your gut feeling! Have you read anythinng from the Waldorf movement? I found \link{http://www.amazon.co.uk/Free-Learn-Introducing-Childhood-Education/dp/1903458064\this book) useful.

Hi

I have had a son and a daughter in Steiner/Waldorf schools for the last 8 years - in New York City, USA, and Forest Row in Sussex.

What would you like to know?

Girl at dd's school was at forest row, but left as she said they didn't give her enough work or any homework (sounds like mums words), is that right the lessons are different than in other schools
