Every year I have watched with interest and excitement as all of these types of threads have progressed to offers.

Finally in the same boat. The Christmas prep is wearing...And couldn't find anyone to share the experience with.... hence this attempt to start one....

Anyone else want to join? If I have missed a school... please feel free to still join in and add your school of interest.

Currently burning the night oil trying to find more comprehension material... anyone have any online suggestions?

I would have thought so, why wouldn't they cash it?

Wimbles101 · 06/03/2017 11:01

As it's a refundable deposit I wondered - TIA

AuntPol · 06/03/2017 12:25

Yes, they definitely cash the deposit cheque.

SoupDragon · 06/03/2017 12:25

Yes, but the cheque would be out of date by the time a boy left 6th form. I think.

As far as I know, they refund it with the last term's fees, or at least it's when your child leaves with appropriate notice. I will know next term (sob!) although that brings up a personal point in that I don't know whether I paid the deposit or XH and he will get the refund as he paid the fees

Seeline · 06/03/2017 12:56

We get money back Shock ?!

SoupDragon · 06/03/2017 13:04

Any parent accepting an offer of a place at the School will be charged a deposit of £800. This will be returned in full without interest when their child leaves the School, less any balance owing to the School. Parents who fail to take up their child's place will lose their full deposit.

Yep. Just the deposit though!!

Seeline · 06/03/2017 13:07

Wow - I'd overlooked that Blush
Mind you - if Ds manages the next 3 and a bit years without the school needing to claim any of it back, it will be a miracle Grin

SoupDragon · 06/03/2017 13:12

CHS is the same :)

Wimbles101 · 06/03/2017 15:40

Thanks SoupDragon - think the word 'charged' in that fine print answers my question Smile

All getting a bit real now...DS has been at the same school since age 5 and we've been so busy concentrating on exams, it's only now dawning that he's going to a new school soon [sob, sob!]

Jige · 08/03/2017 10:28

The thread has gone very quite!

Apart from ukconnection and myself, is there anyone else going in at 10+ at Whitgift?

Wombles2007 · 08/03/2017 21:28

Hi, my son is also joining Whitgift 10+ in September. Anyone coming from the Wimbledon area?

Gettingthroughtheweek · 09/03/2017 10:27

Well, we've accepted the 10+ T place for DS. Anyone else going from the Streatham area?

Seeline · 10/03/2017 11:46

Anyone starting at T in September - there's a second hand uniform sale at school tomorrow morning 8.30 - 11. May be worth looking - or buying big to deal with the growth spurt over the summer Wink

Wimbles101 · 12/03/2017 14:32

Thanks Seeline. I'm hoping there will be one closer to September - as wouldn't have a clue what to get right now.

Is there a house system at Trinity?

SoupDragon · 12/03/2017 14:59

No, there's no house system. When they have competitions, it's between forms (classes) instead.

RainbowBabyMum · 12/03/2017 17:46

Hi all.

I wandering if anyone coming from the Surbiton area?

Wimbles101 · 12/03/2017 20:41

Rainbowmum - is that for Whitgift or Trinity?

RainbowBabyMum · 12/03/2017 22:59

Sorry, it's for Trinity.

Seeline · 13/03/2017 07:56

Wimbles there's normally one in June - I'll try and remember to post!

Wimbles101 · 13/03/2017 08:41

Thanks! I'm hoping some more uniform info will be provided by then.

Rainbow - we are coming from Wimbledon - if that helps? Planning on dropping off initially and then tramming

RainbowBabyMum · 13/03/2017 14:00

Hi Wimbles101
I really worry about the journey. In the morning we are thinking about bring DS to the nearest school bus stop, which is about 12-14 minutes by car from us, but in the evening there are no school buses coming close to us and they leave school at 5:30, as I understood. So I think mb it's better for DS to travel back with other boys if somebody goes in the same direction, I worry about changing train on Clapham.

Wimbles101 · 13/03/2017 15:33

Rainbow - if you message me we might be able to co-ordinate.

I believe the school can organise chaperones from Clapham Jct and East Croydon.

Wimbles101 · 13/03/2017 15:36

Train change at Clapham Jct is very straightforward for us as it's on just the platform next along.

RoseyHill · 21/04/2017 07:23

Hi all
Does W have a sibling policy does anyone know? DS is starting in September but we have two more little boys waiting in the wings!

ukconnection · 21/04/2017 08:47

My son will also start at W in September and he also has a younger sibling waiting in the wings that will hopefully follow his older brother in 2018. I don't believe W have a documented sibling policy like say Emanuel do, but every time you fill in a form or talk to any staff member about admission you are asked if you have any other children at the school now or previously, was Dad an old boy etc etc. On top of that a number of staff & other parents I have spoken to during this process have sent all their boys to W and have been very clear that it was their desire to keep the boys together. That leads DH & I to believe that while they don't expressly talk about keeping siblings together they do appear to be genuinely interested in siblings attending the same school, providing they also meet the required academic entrance standards. So the big question is whether or not being a sibling of a current pupil will afford our younger boys waiting in the wings a little leeway on the exam requirements like say Emanuel do ???? I guess time will tell Wink
