Every year I have watched with interest and excitement as all of these types of threads have progressed to offers.

Finally in the same boat. The Christmas prep is wearing...And couldn't find anyone to share the experience with.... hence this attempt to start one....

Anyone else want to join? If I have missed a school... please feel free to still join in and add your school of interest.

Currently burning the night oil trying to find more comprehension material... anyone have any online suggestions?

Great news Missmillsie re; Trinity. Best of luck!

sbmum2017 · 17/01/2017 16:53

Anglolux,
My son had his sports yday @ W and today @ T .
He came out happy . He has never played hockey before so it was a good experience for him yesterday .
Both the schools made sure that the boys had a good time . T was forthcoming in giving feedbacks individually to each of them
About how they performed and how they enjoyed . There was not much feedback from W . Different experience both days and both days my DS enjoyed a lot ! He had some of his mates too which helped him gel with rest of the boys as well . Overall a pleasant experience for sure and if he reappears 11+ , this experience will only benefit him for sure :-)

Starter123 · 17/01/2017 20:49

knowing

Missmillsie · 17/01/2017 21:10

Thank you Mrspatmore ☺ did you hear yet?

Welcome starter123! It's great to read isn't it, puts your mind at ease at times and even thorough we are all 'strangers' it's nice to have others in the same boat so to speak and feeling the same apprehensions!

Good luck to your DS! At least he's had his interview now. How was that btw? What questions did they ask if you don't mind divulging?

Good idea to maybe not burn those old books just yet lol although majority has been written in.. think I have some 9-10 books which we didn't use x

Wimbles101 · 17/01/2017 21:58

Ha ha! Have to say I'm not burning any books! Have a younger DS but will also pass on unused stuff to friends ;)

Welcome all! We are in the middle if interview and scholarship assessments this week 😳

Gettingthroughtheweek · 18/01/2017 10:40

Hope all are keeping well - and full marks to Trinity for making yesterday's drama assessment so much fun. My DS wanted to go back again today! No idea what they were looking for, but can't fault the way they did it.

Anglolux · 18/01/2017 10:56

After a welcome lull, yesterday and today, it's the final stretch now, DS has sports assessment at W tomorrow and drama assessment and interview on Monday. Gulp!

sbmum2017 · 18/01/2017 12:26

Congrats mums and all the best to the DS's for their respective assessments . Are
There still anyone who is waiting a call for the T academic interview for 10+ ? I received the email on Friday but since then no communication .. so was wondering am
I the only one who is still awaiting to hear or there are still few of us .

Anyone is aware of any sports recall for W for 10+ yet ?

woodlysmum · 18/01/2017 13:45

Gettingthroughtheweek yes my DS said he had a really fun time at the drama assessment too! I probably saw you in the waiting area!
I just hope my DS managed to be a "team player" in the group exercises!! Lol Grin

Gettingthroughtheweek · 18/01/2017 19:37

Woodlysmum - yes, I think there was only one group (?) so we must have passed each other! May have been my last visit to Trinity as DH is taking DS to his interview next week. Feels odd that it could go either way ....regular visits or never see it again!

Missmillsie · 18/01/2017 20:15

In my email confirming ds 11+ interview it says one of the current parents will be there to talk to and answer any questions whilst ds has his interview with one of the admissions team. Anyone else have this set up? Sounds like we are bottom of the cohort! I'm not put out (maybe slightly but possibly overthinking too lol) obviously we are very lucky to even get an interview!

What am I going to talk to the parent about!? Will have to think up some questions, normally I can make 'small talk' with most but just feel slightly nervous for this one! Abit silly I know 😐 Xx

Jige · 18/01/2017 22:58

Hi submum2017, like you we also received an email from T last Friday, but they are yet to call and arrange a date and time. So just to let you know your not the only one waiting. Glad your DS's sports assessment at W&T went well. I'm hoping that we get the call tomorrow from T. 😄

Wimbles101 · 19/01/2017 09:27

Missmillsie - I wouldn't read too much into it - could just be that HM has a full diary for the day

Seeline · 19/01/2017 09:49

Missmillsie - when is your interview? if it is a Saturday one, you will find lots of others having interviews at het same time, and parents will mix together, usually with some staff, but existing parents too, to just chat and answer any questions you may have.
If it's a weekday one, I imagine that this will happen on a smaller scale - there could easily be two or three interviews running at the same time.
Don't worry about the existing parents - we're a friendly bunch Wink

fabfortysomething · 19/01/2017 11:45

Missmillsie - the parent is there to welcome everyone! It is to put you at ease, give you a cup of coffee (or tea) and the boys a biscuit while you are waiting. We had a really lovely parent who chatted to us about the PTA, how the boys form friendships (given that it's a huge catchment area), getting to know other parents etc. From what I recall, W has a similar system.

fabfortysomething · 19/01/2017 12:05

Just to add - the chat with the parent would be one of the factors swaying us towards T if DS were to get more than one offer. It made us feel really welcome and gave us a good feel of the school - which I consider to be more important than league tables or Oxbridge offers. Seeline, you do indeed come across as a very friendly bunch!! Please convey our appreciation through the relevant channels

Seeline · 19/01/2017 12:43

Glad to hear that fab! I have to say DS started at T in Y6 and is now Y10, and I have always found all school events to be very friendly and have felt comfortable there. Definitely one of its (many) plus points.

sbmum2017 · 19/01/2017 12:53

I have also got a similar email from T @Missmillsie . Mine is mid week . Does that mean that the HM won't be around on that day ? In that case who is going to give us a feedback on his performance then ? Any ideas Mums ?

Gettingthroughtheweek · 19/01/2017 13:12

Missmillie, we've got exactly the same set up for a midweek interview. DH is going as I've got unavoidable work meetings, and he's not strong on small talk, but you never know.....I thought the interview email covered all eventualities of timing and interview content well, so I don't think you can read anything specific into it.

Seeline · 19/01/2017 14:58

We never got any feed back on DSs exam performance from T. Weren't going for a scholarship, so didn't meet the HM beyond a chat in the group setting. Parents weren't interviewed for T then unless scholarship students.

Catchmum2017 · 19/01/2017 14:58

Hi ,
I have silently followed the conversations and it has helped me immensely to keep myself calm and composed .
My DS appeared for 10+ and has got a T interview next week . I have also received a similar email clearly saying that DS will have an interview and we can interact with the current parents . There is no mention of HM or anyone present who might give us a feedback about how our DS performed . As a curious mum I called up T to know whether we can get any feedback and was clearly told as no . There won't be any parent interview with anyone and if we need to know further about my DS's performance I have to make a separate appointment with the HM or someone else .
Any mums from previous years - have you had any similar experience and if so does it mean that my DS has not performed well at all and in the bottom of the cohort and hence they are not considering him much and the interview is just to see whether he can at all be considered for a full paid seat or not . I have spoken with few of the parents who already had interviews last week they all got to see the HM . I am confused completely and don't know what to expect really as an outcome now . Any help will be appreciated ..

fabfortysomething · 19/01/2017 15:10

Realistically I don't think the HM can interview 300+ parents (considering 10+, 11+ and 13+ intake).

woodlysmum · 19/01/2017 16:05

Catchmum2017 hello!
Personally I think that it is better if your son is during the week rather than the Saturday- I am feeling a bit down about it.
Were the parents you know who had interviews last week told in their phone calls that they would be meeting the HM? Or did they find out when they got there?
Maybe T don't like telling people in advance you are meeting the HM incase you get your son to prep more?!

Seeline · 19/01/2017 16:23

Catch As I said up thread - we had no feedback from DSs exams at 10+at T, nor did we have a meeting with the HM. Saturday interview for Ds, so we had a brief chat wit the HM in a room full of other parents. He was offered a full-fees place. This was 5 years ago.
