Do Free schools not report admission numbers/pupil details to LA?

Friend was speaking to the council LA about school admissions. While on she asked about a free school asking if they new how many had been admitted the previous year.

The LA said they didn't know as the school dealt with its own admissions.

Do they not still pass details of those on register to them though?

The answer to the question is that free schools do have to pass on pupil information on admissions. I suspect that the LA person was making the general comment that their numbers can change on a daily basis, so they do not have specific up-to-date data. However information on the number of applicants and the number of places offered (for all schools) from the previous year is necessary to be included in the LA admission document for the next admission round. Those will be out September 1st
