Can anyone recommend a textbook, or workbook, on grammar and spelling for a 12-13 year old?

DS is currently learning through a different language than English, he's starting secondary next year and will be learning in English.

He's English grammar and spelling is a what you might call a bit lacking to say the least. As he also gets little homework (not too impressed with this year's teacher) I'm looking into working on the subject at home.

Does anyone have any suggestions for a text book or work book?

CGP books tend to be good. In your situation I'd probably go for ones aimed at y6 SATs e.g. this one or some similar linked from that link.

(Better give my credentials.: parent to a current y6 DD who has been having homework from a CGP SATS Grammar Buster book all year).

I'll look into the BBC KS stuff too (once I sort Flash!); I hadn't though of that until you mentioned KS2!
