My friend was just telling me how her DD's nativity play has been postponed because they aren't good enough!

I can't believe it. This is a reception class of 4-5 year olds. "Aren't good enough" for who exactly?

Isn't the fact that they all make mistakes and pick their noses part of the fun and appeal of the tots nativity play?

A lot of mums and dads had taken a half day from work for this and only found out last night (play should be today). It's now next week after a few more rehearsals .

Totally bonkers!

We went to ds' play last night and it was really cute. Mind you, they don't seem to have done any actual learning due to practising the blooming thing!

Where are they putting it on? The Old Vic??

Teacher needs taking down several pegs - can't they see they're putting the children under loads of pressure now? At 4-5 that's not bloody on

They're always good enough. Even when they get their words wrong, call out to Mum, wipe their noses on their costumes and fall over the manger they're still good enough.

What a shame to upset the children like that.

What sort of a message is that to teach children? Crazy, bloody crazy. I agree, its all about arsing up lines, crying when its your turn, scenery falling over, its priceless and makes me cry with pride!

Maybe it's not the teacher who has postponed it, but some one higher up. I once worked at a school where the head said to the reception teacher after the Nativity Play, 'Well that wasn't very good was it' I don't think it should be postponed either, but I imagine the staff are under huge pressure to put on something realy good.
