Okay, I'm not overly given to being soppy about my children's achievements, and generally quite happy to pass up class assemblies on the basis that if you've seen one Y3 assembly, you've seen them all.
But...
This is the dd1 who hated school, was lippy and cynical and used to tear up her praise notes on the rare occasions that she got them. And school didn't like her much either.
And...
One term into secondary school and she is the first person to get a Head's commendation (for clocking up a certain number of reward stickers and postcards according to the school's complicated motivation system). Her form teacher made her stand up during registration so the class could clap her. And she has just been chosen to sing the solo in Once in Royal David's City during the school carol concert. And she's so proud and happy.
I feel I've got my little girl back. Please do join me in a [proud] and moment.
I thank you.
