Any thoughts on this IGGY social network run by University of Warwick?

Just that really. It is a new one on me, never heard of it before and never seen any threads on Mumsnet about it (and have been searching for one this morning). If anyone has a child who participates ... what do you think?

would be helpful if you could link to something, or tell us more about what it is???

Sorry, I suppose I was wanting to hear from people who actually know what it is and have experience of it.

Remember Tony EducationEducationEducation Blair? He and New Labour started the Gifted & Talented thing as a way to keep the middle classes in State education and not running off to the Independents. Part of it was NAGTY, which was awarded to Warwick University to run in 2002. After a while they fell out (as is often the way with politicians and educators!) over the direction of the programme. Warwick went their own way and re-branded as IGGY, so they have been doing this sort of thing for thirteen years.
I have no recent experience of this but NAGTY was good so I should imagine that IGGY is too (though it must be scaled back because they haven't got the same level of funding).
I will also add various caveats along the lines of 'it is what you make it', one man's meat is another man's poison, etc.

Dd2 went on a trip to UCL in y9 and got invited onto IGGY - I know she signed up for it, but I don't think she's looked at it since then, and she was never sure what it was supposed to be offering her.
