Hey Twig - snaperoonie!

State primary in Manchester

State girls grammar school in Cheshire

Leeds University - IIi combined honours - Physiology and Pharmacology (and I was only 1% away from a first dontcha know - firsts in every single assignment and about half my final exams - 2nd yr exam results brought my mark down. Arse.)

Also done first year of my MBA (stopped when moved job and house) and have management and marketing qualifications.

Not a piano genius though

Dh - state primary, state comp, practically zero qualifications, string of crappo jobs, now has a great career, good position, fabbo salary.

He's bright and has 'gift of the gab' and it's served him well in his field (thank the Lord since I can now step back and hold the 'secondary career' in the household)

northerner · 12/11/2006 18:05

I went to the local sink comprehensive in Teesside.

Got 10 GCSE's, A BTEC National Diploma (WTF use is that?) and grade 7 on the violin.

I work in event management.

tamum · 12/11/2006 18:06

Hmm, state primary, then private girls' school. This wasn't out of choice, it was free- really weird set-up where I lived because there were secondary moderns and a boys' grammar but nothing equivalent for girls, so the council bought 30 places a year at the private school. Did well in O levels then feel foul of unutterably crap science teaching (coupled with my innate lack of ability and interest). Re-took maths and chemistry at a state school and did orders of magnitude better. Ds is at a state comprehensive now and like MI, I think he will do just fine.

I got grade 4 clarinet at the private school, mind

iPodthereforiPoor · 12/11/2006 18:07

iota- nothing wrong with Southampton Uni!!! unless you spent too much time in Clowns in Portswood!

I went to comp that was in ofsted special measures in Plymouth

then 2:2 Biomedical Sciece Southampton Uni.

then 2:1 Occupational Therapy, St.Loyes - uni of Exeter

Now I'm a single, unemployed mum and have achieved by the age of 27 what most of my class mates had done by 16!

motherinferior · 12/11/2006 18:08

I should probably point out my daughters appear to have inherited their father's cloth ears [glum]

Blandmum · 12/11/2006 18:09

Tamum, glad to see you have kept up your level of ineptitude in science

tamum · 12/11/2006 18:10

Fortunately for me ds seems to have inherited his father's muscial ability I bet your dds will change with time though, MI.

motherinferior · 12/11/2006 18:10

But she's a great plumber, MB!

tamum · 12/11/2006 18:11

Mb, if you saw me trying to help ds with his S1 homework you'd see what I'm talking about Scientific depth I can do, breadth bit more of a problem....

Blandmum · 12/11/2006 18:11

And plays a mighty fine harmonica!

tamum · 12/11/2006 18:12
Blandmum · 12/11/2006 18:12

Ah, now you see I am your original Jack of all Trades and collecter of facts!

Cat me if I can ever help!

fennel · 12/11/2006 18:12

state primary and technical high school for girls (between secondary modern and grammar) left at 16

missus average - that;s me

which school Twigs?

tamum · 12/11/2006 18:17

Yes, and those of us who weren't entirely state educated are feeling the need to justify every step, fennel

Kaz33 · 12/11/2006 18:18

Me - state primary and comp, edinburgh university (2:1), Law conversion

DH - state primary, went to grammar but hated it being working class oik and back to comp. Left school with not a qualification to his name.

Difference - parents, just shows you that really makes the difference as DH is just as bright if not brighter than me...

ScummyMummy · 12/11/2006 18:22

Aw- don't fret, tamum. No one should boast about or need to justify their own education- where we went to school wasn't our decision, was it? We can none of us choose our parents/circumstances.

indignatio · 12/11/2006 18:22

Private nursery, state primary, local comp, cambridge then guildford school of law

I wasn't going to post until I saw the other thread

JoolsToo · 12/11/2006 18:22

dh - state primary
state grammar for boys
IIii Salford University (Civ Eng)
ended up being a copper!

One of those poor (as in money) council house kids with a ne'er do well father, who benefitted from the grammar school system - don't knock it.

ScummyMummy · 12/11/2006 18:26

I don't think you are average at all, jools. You are fab (even though you are irrationally annoyed by my hatred of the daily mail [baffled])
