Any experience of placing a boy in what until recently was an all girls school (independent)

Hi,
Has anybody got personal experience of a ds starting at was previously a girls school in the first phases of going co ed?
This is a possibility for ds and just wondered how it worked out as he'd be one of a handful of boys to start off with, he's more creative than sporty and prefers games like rounders and hockey to rugby or football.

The obvious question is how many boys will there be? The problem when this sort of thing happens is that parents are often understandably reluctant to pit their DC into the school until there are sufficient numbers (girls or boys) and therefore unless the school has something else very significant to offer like jaw dropping exam results then numbers can stay low for a long time.
Teenage boys IMO need other boys to be friends with, will there be enough for him to be able to find 1-2 he personally likes? Also will there be enough to make up teams etc? A friend DD did it the other way round and she felt the school they choose was fundamentally a boys school which took girls (40% girls) her DD has three brothers and was a complete Tom boy, not a hair clip for a hundred miles and she loved it, her friend followed her and lasted it for two term and then changed to a more normal coed.
I know that many disagree but I do think boys learn differently, DS2's school knows how to educate boys (I personally can't ever see it becoming coed), the teachers understand boys, if this school you're considering has only just become coed the teachers will know and understand girls the shift in ethos I doubt will happen over night.
