this one worked for us

Do you mean understand the biology of it or the emotional upheaval? Sophie's Baby is a good book about feeling frustrated and unloved when the baby comes along but it all turns out swell.

this one's good too it doesn't have words so you can make your own story up to the pictures

We went with the old school _Topsy and Tim and the New Baby. It showed the brother having conflicting feelings as well as things babies do including breastfeeding.

There is a nice one called "Zsa Zsas Baby Brother"by Lucy Cousins who does the 'Maisie' books for when baby arrives.Love "Annie-Rose is my Little Sister" about sib relationships by Shirley Hughes.(beautifully illustrated). For comedy value in a touching way I love a couple of Pingu episodes- one where his little sister is born and hatches out of the egg and also one where Pingu gets jealous of his little sister!!!I found that when I talked to ds about how he felt when his sister was born he could relate to the latter one!!!Obviously the egg thing could be a little confusing!!They are both on the "Pingu Forever" dvd (How sad am I ???)Good luck with no 2!

Topsy and tim do one and so does Spot. 'Spots baby sister' I think its called. We had 'Theres a house inside my mummy' too. It was lovely, nice ryming words and pictures that really seemed to fit with our family. I also got one called 'Im a big brother' from Amazon . Good luck

we had a few

Waiting for Baby and The New Baby ( Child's Play 2.99 from Amazon) are excellent - neither have words, just ex illustrations about preparing for the baby ( going to scans, mum exhausted on sofa while dad gets supper, decorating nursery etc) and then the second book has lovely pictures of feeding, changing, playing with the baby.

I'm a Big Sister ( also one called I'm a Big Brother) by Joanne Cole is also v v good. Tells a bit about what a baby can't do but what the big sibling can.
